John K. Dewberry - President & CEOback to top
Mr. Dewberry, who founded Dewberry Capital in 1989 with $5,000 of personal capital, has since grown his Company into one of the leading commercial real estate firms in the Southeast, acquiring and developing over 2 million square feet. Today, the firm has approximately $400 million in net operating assets under management, spanning Virginia to Florida, and controls development properties representing approximately $4 billion in future development costs. As CEO and President, Mr. Dewberry is responsible for the overall direction of Dewberry Capital. Prior to founding the Company, Mr. Dewberry worked for New York-based Marine Midland Bank (a predecessor to HSBC) as Assistant Vice President - Southeast in commercial real estate lending. In 1986, Mr. Dewberry received his BS in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Douglas Dewberry - Executive Vice President, Project Financeback to top
Mr. Dewberry handles all project financing activities, as well as manages all acquisitions and dispositions for Dewberry Capital. Since joining the Company in 1993, Mr. Dewberry has raised and arranged over $500 million in real estate financing for Dewberry Capital. Prior to joining Dewberry Capital, Mr. Dewberry provided construction financing as a mortgage loan officer with The Bank of Boston (now Bank of America). Mr. Dewberry began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant in the tax department of Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young). In 1985, Mr. Dewberry received a Masters of Accountancy and a Bachelors of Business Administration-Accounting cum laude from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Clotfelter joined Dewberry Capital in 2008 as Controller and oversaw the company's corporate accounting, tax, and human resources. In 2017 Mr. Clotfelter was promoted to CFO. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Clotfelter spent over five years working with an Atlanta regional accounting firm, specializing in assurance and taxation for privately held real-estate and commercial development clients. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Masters of Accounting from Kennesaw State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Georgia Society of CPA's.
Kim Lavigne - Vice President of Real Estateback to top
Ms. Lavigne joined Dewberry Capital in 2014 as the Director of Property Management. She is responsible for the oversight and direction of all components of the property management division and building operations for Dewberry Capital's prime office, retail, and residential assets located in Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, and Virginia. She is also responsible for the oversight and direction of the retail leasing division. Prior to joining Dewberry Capital, Ms. Lavigne served as the Vice President of Operations for Stafford Properties, Inc. where she was responsible for the oversight of the property management division, all aspects of the lease administration process, lease negotiations, marketing, and collaborating with the CEO to determine and steer strategic business plans and fiscal administrations for the company. Kim began her career in commercial real estate with Aaron Rent's as a Real Estate Manager with responsibilities for over three hundred locations throughout Central, Mississippi Valley, and Southwest part of the United States. Kim received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Babson College and her Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Kim is a licensed real estate agent in the state of Georgia and an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA).
Peter Farag - Real Estate Associateback to top
Mr. Farag joined the Dewberry Capital team as our newest Real Estate Associate in the Fall of 2014. Peter joined us after graduating from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law, where he focused his studies on Real Estate Development, Zoning, and Land Use Planning. After receiving his Bachelors of Science in Economics from the College of Charleston in 2009, Peter went to work in his father's real estate business, and onto EDENS in Columbia, SC. Today, Peter works in the areas of Real Estate and Development as a legal and financial resource with experience on commercial and residential projects.
John Freeman - Director of Financeback to top
John Freeman joined Dewberry Capital in 2015 as the Controller. He is responsible for corporate accounting, financial reporting, cash management, tax strategy, financing and human resources. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Accounting, John began his career in Birmingham, Alabama as an auditor with Ernst & Young. He later transferred to Houston, Texas where he worked in a variety of industries, including Real Estate, Construction, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Distribution. In 2008, John moved to Atlanta to accept a job with Morgan Stanley in their Real Estate Investing group as a Fund Controller. In 2012, State Street acquired his group and John was retained to manage a team in charge of fund accounting and investor reporting of a $6 billion global real estate fund. In addition to volunteering for multiple organizations, John serves as the Finance Chairman on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of DeKalb County.
Ley Barnes - Controllerback to top
Mr. Barnes joined the Dewberry Capital management team in 2016 serving as Controller. In this capacity he manages the accounting, financial reporting, cash management, tax strategy, and human resources for DCC and its related properties. Ley began his career with Ernst & Young in their Birmingham and Atlanta offices. As a member of Ernst & Young’s Assurance & Accounting Business Services practice he worked with clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to entrepreneurial startups. Prior to joining Dewberry Capital, Ley was Controller for a healthcare management company including serving as an integral member of the management team as the Company sought out and completed a private equity recapitalization. Ley attended Auburn University receiving bachelors and masters degrees in accounting and also holds a CPA License in the State of Alabama.
Carolyn Salas - Senior Accountantback to top
Ms. Salas joined Dewberry Capital in 2013 as a senior accountant to facilitate the daily financial reporting and record keeping of Dewberry Capital's Real Estate portfolio. Carolyn bring over six years of property accounting experience from Cousins Property, a publicly held property management firm in the Atlanta area. She received her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Norfolk State University and is a Certified Public Accountant for the State of Georgia.
Lee Morrison - Staff Accountantback to top
Mr. Morrison joined Dewberry Capital in the spring of 2014. As the firms Staff Accountant, Lee assists in the delivery of accounting, management, and financial reports as well as facilitating the execution of all accounting functions. Prior to joining the firm, Lee completed his Masters of Business Administration graduating Beta Gamma Sigma from Millsaps College. In the Spring of 2012 he graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Business Administration from Millsaps College. During his academic studies, Lee worked as a financial intern at Merrill Lynch and also as an intern at The Mississippi Development Authority.
Matt Connors - Finance Associateback to top
Mr. Connors first joined Dewberry Capital as a Finance Intern in the Spring of 2014. As the team’s Finance Associate, Matt develops financial models for new project developments, analyzes and evaluates our capital structure, and maintains treasury reporting. A native son of Atlanta, Matt graduated from Marist School before going on to attend Georgia Tech and continue his athletic career as a member of the football team. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, Matt was awarded a Postgraduate Scholarship on behalf of the ACC and completed his Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Real Estate from Georgia Tech. Prior to his experience at Dewberry, Matt interned with commercial real estate brokerage firm, Marcus & Millichap.
Johnny Ligon - Senior Accountantback to top
Mr. Ligon recently joined Dewberry Capital in 2016 as a Staff Accountant after previously working in real estate tax for the CPA Firm Bennett Thrasher. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree in accounting from The University of Alabama, Johnny went on to get his Masters in Tax Accounting from Georgia State University. Mr. Ligon is a CPA and is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.
Lockie Brown - Vice President of Designback to top
Mr. Brown recently joined the Dewberry Capital team in 2014 after spending over 30 years in private architectural practice in the Atlanta area. Lockie's expertise is in the hospitality sector and has designed key properties for major luxury hotel brands throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
Having grown up in the Atlanta area, Lockie graduated from Tucker High School. He completed his undergraduate degree in Architecture from Clemson University where he was a member of Clemson's 1981 National Championship Football team. Lockie spent a year traveling through Europe before returning to Clemson to complete his Masters of Architecture degree. He is a registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Lockie's focus at Dewberry Capital includes managing and assisting in the design of all major development projects and assisting the Dewberry Hospitality Group in the growth of the Dewberry brand of luxury hotels. Lockie has worked on the Dewberry Charleston for over 5 years and is excited to see the project under construction. Having been born in Charleston with extended family still living on the peninsula the importance of the Dewberry Charleston as a legacy project for the City is close to home.
Lockie looks ahead to great things from Dewberry Capital. The opportunities at DCC to develop and design great projects that have a positive, long lasting impact in the communities they serve is a great responsibility.
Douglas German - Development Associateback to top
Mr. German joined in 2016 from Tishman Speyer where he was an Assistant Project Manager handling large tenant build-outs, assisted in the renovation of Colony Square, and the new development of Three Alliance Center. Douglas graduated from The Citadel in 2013 with a BS in Business Administration where he played 4 years of football.
Scott Dawson - Managing Director of Dewberry Hospitality Groupback to top
Mr. Dawson joined Dewberry Capital as Managing Director of our Hospitality Group in June 2014. Having held his first hotel job in Scotland at the age of 12, Scott brings with him 30 years of Global Luxury Hotel experience which has taken him throughout Europe and Asia before coming to the US in 1998.
Scott has operated Hotels in Chicago, New York, New Orleans and Washington DC for InterContinental, Jumeirah Group, Doyle Collection and most recently oversaw the Mid-Atlantic Region for Commune Hotels and Resorts.
Scott graduated Hotel School in Scotland and holds an MBA from Henley Management College outside London as well as being certified in Real Estate and Asset Management from Cornell University.
Scott speaks fluent French, loves to golf and Fly Fish and lives with his wife and two children in Mount Pleasant, just outside Charleston SC, where he will oversee the launch of the Dewberry brand with the opening of our first hotel in late 2015.
Jaimie Brown- Director of Dewberry Foundationback to top
Ms. Brown joined Dewberry Capital at the beginning of 2015 as Director of the Dewberry Foundation. She handles all of the charitable requests and contributions for the foundation. Jaimie began her career with Georgia Institute of Technology's Alexander-Tharpe Fund in Athletic Development. She then went on to manage Grace 251, a faith based art gallery and gift shop with an element of women's ministry, located in Dalton, GA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University
Kimberly Arturo - Executive Assistant to the CEOback to top
Ms. Arturo joined Dewberry Capital in 2013 as a Finance/Accounting Intern. Shortly thereafter, Kimberly's prowess and interest in leasing and corporate communications led her to transition roles and become a Retail Leasing Intern. In this role she was intricately involved in vetting prospective tenants, assisting in the execution of leases and managing communication initiatives which effectively described and promoted Dewberry Capital, among other varying duties as well. Upon graduating with honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in December 2015, Ms. Arturo joined the Dewberry Capital Team fulltime. Her new role as Executive Assistant to the CEO includes coordinating the daily operations of the Chairman’s office as well as maintaining all of the Chairman’s personal accounts. Serving directly under the CEO, Ms. Arturo also assists in Dewberry Capital’s growth and expansion further into the Atlanta market.
Kristin Lyskawa - Director of First Impressionsback to top
Ms. Lyskawa joined Dewberry Capital in 2015 as the Director of First Impressions. She is responsible for welcoming all clients, daily office operations, and assisting you in any way she can. Prior to Dewberry Capital, Kristin worked four years in retail giving her much experience in client hospitality and communications. In addition to working at Dewberry Capital, Ms. Lyskawa is working to finish her degree in Communications from Georgia Perimeter College.
